Overview

This three-part webinar series has been designed in response to the increasing challenges schools are facing around:

• Parent-School Communication

• Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)

• Masking and Dysregulation

• Mistrust Between Families and Schools

• Rising Parental Anxiety and Frustration

• Increasing Complexity of Neuro-diverse Presentations

Webinar One. Empowered Conversations: Building Safer, More Productive Conversations with Parents
Taking place on 12 November 2026, 4pm - 6:30pm.
This session introduces participants to the foundations of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and how
it can transform difficult conversations with parents into more collaborative, emotionally safe
interactions. Participants will explore how language, tone, judgement, assumptions, and nervous system responses can unintentionally escalate defensiveness and damage trust — particularly when families are already
feeling overwhelmed, blamed, or unheard. Participants will learn the 4 core components of Nonviolent Communication and begin applying these to real-world school-parent scenarios. Webinar Two. Regulation, Relationships & the Role of Adults
Taking place on Thursday 26 November, 4pm - 6:30pm.
This session explores the role of regulation, emotional safety, masking, sensory overwhelm, and nervous system responses in shaping behaviour, communication, and parent-school relationships. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of how neuro-divergent pupils may present very differently across home and school environments — and why this can often create tension or misunderstanding between educators and parents. Participants will learn practical tracking tools that help schools and families move from assumptions and disagreements toward shared understanding and collaborative problem-solving.Taking place on Thursday 26 November, 4pm - 6:30pm. Webinar Three. Co-producing Pupil Profiles and Action Plans
Taking place on Thursday 10 December, 4pm - 6:30pm.
This final session brings together the learning from the previous webinars to support schools in creating meaningful, collaborative neurodiversity profiles alongside parents and carers. Participants will explore how to move away from one-off meetings and reactive communication toward ongoing, trust-based collaboration rooted in shared understanding. Using the tools and tracking from previous sessions, staff will learn how to structure conversations that help parents feel heard, respected, and genuinely involved in shaping support strategies.
